Gap & a Very Tall Building

When Gap opened its first store, back in ’69, it promised “Levi’s, records and tapes” under one roof and the opening had a motorcycle give-away.

Yep, a humble start. (We didn’t even sell our own Gap-branded stuff.)

It’s a different story today, of course – Gap continues to open its doors (sans motorcycles) in countries around the world. A couple of months ago, we opened our 20^th Gap store in China – in the Mong Kok district of Hong Kong, otherwise known as the highest population density in the world.

Just a few days ago, we opened our third Gap franchise store in Chile – this time, as part of a brand-new mall where J-Lo was spotted shopping (Costanera Center), which is connected to the tallest building in South America.

The tower, at 60 floors, is getting its share of the news in Santiago … and this seminal period in South America also shares a moment, however small, with Gap; our Gap hoodies at this new store near this record-setting skyscraper are a local favorite already …
