Gearing Up for Black Friday

It’s November, which means our favorite shopping time is right around the corner: Black Friday.

For people around the world who might not know, Black Friday is the day following Thanksgiving in the United States that traditionally marks the start of the holiday shopping season. Many retailers open early and people line up for miles to score the best deals on all their holiday list items.

Last Black Friday, millions of Americans lined the sidewalks, store entryways and parking lots by midnight for deals on everything from electronics to apparel and jewelry. The National Retail Federation (NRF) is predicting an even larger turnout this year, with holiday sales increasing 4.1 percent to $586.1 billion. And I plan to contribute to that growing number.

I think this will be the best year where I take advantage of the savings Black Friday sales offer.

My mission: get all my holiday shopping done on Black Friday in one fell swoop. There’s no better place to accomplish my goal than at all my favorite Gap Inc. stores.

Old Navy, Gap, Banana Republic and Athleta are rolling out some awesome deals Black Friday. I plan to hit the ground running – or walking very slowly based on my turkey intake – to get gifts for everyone on my list.

I love the deals Black Friday has to offer, however, I don't find it worth it to stand in line for hours on end just to get those deals. It saddens me that we live in a world where people will trample each other for a sweater, or toy, etc. I would rather take advantage of sales throughout the year and shop calmly rather than frantically trying to get the last skinny jeans or cute hat. Just the way I was raised.
