A Heartfelt Thanks to My Gap Inc. Family in the Wake of Sandy

Blog Squad note - This is a letter from our employee Diann M. in New York. We loved it so much, we had to share...

Dear friends,

I live and work on the north shore of Long Island in Riverhead, New York.  While Hurricane Sandy caused flooding and knocked down power lines in my community, my family and co-workers at the Banana Republic Factory Store at the Tanger Outlets are all safe.

It hasn’t been easy.  Power is still out in pockets.  Recovery is going to take a while.  But, it’s so heartwarming to see the outpouring of support. I've seen many companies including Gap Inc. and relief agencies donating time and resources.

I know Gap Foundation is organizing volunteer efforts and matching employee donations. And, H.R. teams are in constant contact with us - providing hotels, meals, and supplies to employees hit hardest by Sandy. But, I think most people don’t know that we are getting extra help.

Even though store closings kept us from working, employees here are still going to receive paychecks. I’m proud to work for an employer that is both generous and supportive of employees in a time of need.

Thanks for all of your well-wishes.

Diann M.
